Ego Ella May Releases Good Intentions
British-Nigerian artist Ego Ella May has released Good Intentions, her second album, marking a significant evolution in her artistry with Ego taking the lead in production alongside Alfa Mist, Beat Butcha, and Wu-Lu. It's her first LP since wrapping up her FIELDNOTES series, and she's risen to the occasion, delivering a refreshed collection of neo- and alt-soul spiced with jazz and broken beat flavours.
The record sees Ego embrace an intuitive, liberating process, deliberately avoiding perfectionism in favour of capturing the immediacy of her voice. Across the album, she weaves together themes of community, liberation, vulnerability and the quiet complexities of everyday life. The album is also informed by authors she loves — Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Patti Smith, Chinua Achebe, and Joan Didion.
To celebrate the release, Ego Ella May has announced a UK mini-tour, kicking off in Manchester on April 29.
Good Intentions is out now via Believe UK.
