Arlo Parks Moves to the Dancefloor

Arlo Parks released Ambiguous Desire on April 3, marking a deliberate pivot from the bedroom confessionals that defined her earlier work. The album emerged from a New York summer night when Parks comforted a distressed stranger in a nightclub, an encounter that unlocked something more kinetic in her songwriting.

Inspired by dancing in New York clubs like Nowadays and Basement, the twelve tracks pulse with dance music energy while retaining her gift for emotional nuance. Sampha appears on "Senses," one of several standouts on a record that refuses easy resolution—fitting for an album named after desire that remains, by design, ambiguous.

Parks kicks off her Desire tour in Washington, D.C. on August 29, with European dates including Utrecht on October 28.
