Marcos Valle Returns to Europe

Marcos Valle

Marcos Valle marks a major return to Europe this spring, touching down in cities where his influence on bossa nova, MPB, and Brazilian funk has quietly shaped generations of DJs and record diggers. His tour includes stops in Utrecht on May 18 at TivoliVredenburg and London on May 20 at The Jazz Cafe, bringing warm vocals and Rhodes-driven grooves to rooms that suit his sophisticated, unshowy style.

Valle wrote "Samba de Verão" in 1964—a standard covered more than eighty times—but his adventurous 1970s work, steeped in jazz fusion and psychedelic funk, remains his deepest calling card. The recent reissue of his 2010 album Estática reminds listeners that his later work strips bossa of its easy-listening veneer, revealing a restless experimentalist still willing to disrupt the grooves he helped invent.

The tour continues through Utrecht (May 18), London (May 20), Paris (May 22), Milan (May 28), and Copenhagen (June 1), before heading to North America in July.
